Overview
During this conference, held during the V Astana Economic Forum, the atmosphere was quite gloomy given that we were at the height of the Eurozone crisis. There was a generalized feeling that the western world would be dealing with a lost decade and a period of profound instability akin to that faced during the interwar years. Multilateralism was in crisis. The conference allowed participants to discuss how to counter regional recessions and develop new mechanisms of financial and economic stability.
